Suture PGP - 3/8 circle, reverse cutting - 3/8RC19

Suture PGP (Polyglecap.) 3/8RC19 Metric 1 USP 5-0 70cm

PGP (PGCL) is an absorbable monofilament synthetic thread made of poly (glycolide-co-caprolactone) (PGCL) for surgical applications. The absorbable monofilament synthetic threads made of PGCL are available in FD&C Violet No. 2 and meet all requirements of the US Pharmacopoeia (USP) with the exception of the thread size.

Properties

  • Excellent holding power
  • Smooth passage through the tissue, excellent manageability, extreme flexibility, good knot security
  • No wicking: prevents bacteria from migrating along the seam

Indications

The absorbable monofilament synthetic threads made of PGCL are indicated for approximation or ligation of soft tissue parts. This excludes cardiovascular, neurological and ophthalmological interventions as well as microsurgery.

Contraindications

This absorbable suture should not be used if long-term tissue approximation is required. The material may not be suitable for use on elderly, malnourished, or otherwise debilitated patients or those suffering from wound healing disorders. Not for use in cardiovascular, neurological or ophthalmic procedures. The side effects can be found in the instructions for use.

Tensile strenght

Animal experiments with implantation have shown that the PGCL material still has around 70% of its original tensile strength seven days after implantation. Accordingly, 40% of the original tensile strength is still present after 14 days and 12% after 21 days.

Absorption

The absorption is initially noticeable as a loss of tensile strength without a pronounced loss of mass being detectable. The PGP suture is almost completely absorbed within 91 to 120 days.
